Karon Ann Jones, 79, of Alexis, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on October 10, 1946, in Galesburg, the daughter of Roy Kermit and Elizabeth Rose (Morrison) Delawder. Karon was reared and educated in Knoxville, Illinois. After graduating from Knoxville High School in 1964, she attended Brown’s Business College. Karon once worked as a shipping clerk at Gates Rubber Company for many years. She later worked in the Radiology Department at OSF St. Mary Medical Center as an X-ray technician until her retirement in 1999. Karon married Arnold Ray Jones on January 26, 1974, in Knoxville.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Arnold Jones of Alexis; one son, Lance (Samantha) Jones of Mediapolis, Iowa; one daughter, Lesa (Rick) Pecsi of Knoxville; three grandsons: Dustin, Brayden, and Colton; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: her twin, Sharon Clark, and Beverly Klein; and one granddaughter, Lacy Zefo.
Karon found joy in the beauty of nature and the outdoors. Her love for life shone brightly through her many passions, which included horseback riding, waterskiing, and boating. Karon’s adventurous spirit led her to countless camping trips and cherished moments spent by the river, where she felt truly at home. Additionally, she took pride in the care of her surroundings, as she enjoyed mowing the lawn. In her leisure time, Karon found solace in the pages of a good book. In her later years, Karon found joy being at home with a cup of coffee while constantly giving her dog treats, even if Arnie didn’t think he deserved them. It made her happy to be onery. Karon’s greatest passion was her family, and she immensely enjoyed the times when they would all get together. Karon loved to tell stories and took pride in talking about her grandkids to anyone who would listen. The smile she gave told you just how much she adored and loved them.
A private family visitation will be held for her immediate family. Cremation will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
