David Hayslip Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Niles on Apr. 9, 2025.
David James Hayslip, 30, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
David was born on June 15, 1994 in Niles, Michigan to David Jason Hayslip and Melissa Ann Hocker.
David was preceded in death by his memaw, Kathy Boffie; aunt, and Nana Hocker.
Left to cherish the memory of David is his loving wife, Danielle (Pratt) Hayslip; father, David (Angela) Hayslip; mother, Melissa Hocker, and siblings, David (Tabitha) Hayslip Jr, Ashley (Rusty) Hunter, Allison (Gary) Mullins, Courtney (Jonathan) Whitworth, Bryan (Priscilla) Barnes, Travis Barnes, and Alyssa (Brett) Humphrey.
A devoted husband, son, and friend, David's passion for life's simple pleasures was the hallmark of his enduring spirit.
An ardent outdoorsman, David found solace in the embrace of nature, whether it was the tranquility of fishing, the thrill of mushroom hunting, or the rugged beauty of hiking through the revered pathways of Purgatory Nature State Game Area. His appreciation for the great outdoors was matched by his fervor for the excitement of the Speedway, where he shared his enthusiasm with fellow fans.
A dedicated supporter of Michigan Football, David's infectious cheer could be felt in every "Go Blue" chant, uniting him with countless others in camaraderie and spirit. On quieter evenings, the glow of the television flickered with the larger-than-life drama of WWE wrestling, a pastime he much enjoyed.
But perhaps nothing rivaled the joy David derived from video games, where he became an avid gamer, masterfully navigating virtual worlds with the same dexterity he navigated his own life's adventures. His love for gaming was second only to the unbounded love he had for his wife and family. A true family man at heart, David's legacy is defined by the profound love he held for his loved ones, a love that will continue to resonate in their memories and guide them like a lighthouse's beam across the ever-shifting tides of life.
David's legacy is one of joy, adventure, and unconditional love. His unwavering enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures and his boundless love for his family will forever be remembered by those who were lucky enough to know him. He will be dearly missed, yet his memory will live on.
In keeping with David's wishes, his family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
