David Wayne Henderson, born on August 2, 1969, in New Albany, Indiana, departed this world on October 12, 2024. He was a cherished member of his community and a long-time deacon at Parkway Southern Baptist Church, where his faith and dedication to serving others shone brightly.
Over nearly 33 years of marriage, he was the loving husband of Michelle Harney Henderson, a partnership defined by mutual respect, unyielding support, and a profound love that knew no bounds. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Morgan Sowders and Brenna Henderson, who were a constant source of joy and pride for David. In his eyes, they were not just his children but his legacy, embodiments of the values he held dear.
David's warmth and kindness extended beyond his immediate family. He was a devoted son to his father, Larry (Vicki) Henderson, and a beloved brother to Mindy (Bob) Gullett. His family gatherings were enriched by the presence of many nieces and nephews, each of whom he adored deeply. In every interaction, he left an imprint of love, making sure to be a guiding light and a living example of how to cherish and nurture relationships.
David found joy in life through various passions. He was an avid sports enthusiast, often sharing in the excitement of games with those he loved. He enjoyed playing games and traveling with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Additionally, he cultivated a unique collection of gnomes and wood boxes, each piece a testament to his playful spirit and creative eye.
Throughout his life, David exemplified what it meant to be a devoted family man and a pillar of strength to those around him. His proudest accomplishments were not material successes, but rather the ways in which he made others feel valued and loved. His capacity to love his wife and children deeply influenced countless lives, inspiring them to foster strong familial bonds.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Hill.
The impact of his life continues to resonate within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. David Henderson's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith-a testament to a life well-lived. We will carry his memory forward, cherishing the love he shared.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
