David Hess Obituary

LEXINGTON- David J. Hess, age 80, a resident of Lexington passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the McLaren Port Huron Hospital in Port Huron.

He was born on November 5, 1945 in Capac, Michigan, a son of the late Lloyd and Eunice (Willis) Onyon. Dave married Agnes F. Bak on July 30, 1977 in Port Huron.

Dave was in construction trades before becoming the maintenance and custodial supervisor at the Sanilac Career Center. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #7255, Fr. LaHaie Council, Lexington. Dave was also a devoted member of the Ave Maria Parish- St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington. Dave was a talented woodworker and craftsman and was tech savoy. He was always there to help anyone in need and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, of almost 49 years Agnes Hess; son, Kevin (Rhonda) Hess, step daughters, Colleen (Adam) Chapman, Deborah (Ken) Pletzer; son-in-law, Jeff Rupersburg; one brother, Tom Hess, two sisters, Kathy Brace and Janet Gaskell; step brother, Tom Hess; two step sisters, Barb Campbell and Sue Power; brother-in-law, John Bak; loving grandchildren, Jennifer Kandler, Emily Pletzer, Andrew Pletzer, Dillon (Emma) Hess, Gina Hess, Sean Hess, and Jamie Rupersburg; great granddaughter, Presleigh Kandler, twin great grandsons, Mason and Parker Hess and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Onyon and Eunice and Bob Hess; his daughter, Jodi Rupersburg; brother-in-law, Tony Bak and two sisters-in-laws, Sue Bak and Mary Bak.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Ave Maria Parish- St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington, with visiting at the church from 9- 10 A.M., Fr. Bala Mandanu will officiate. Interment of ashes will immediately follow the Mass in the Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery in Peck. A luncheon at the Parish Hall will immediately follow the interment services at the cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Dave may be made to Eva's Place of Sandusky or Project Blessing in Lexington.
