David Hibbits, born on December 22, 1954, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, after a courageous and lengthy battle with leukemia.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Bille (Surgenor) of 47 years and their two children, Kristin Lesnieski (Jeff) of Erie, PA and Patrick Hibbits. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernie, his mother Rose Ellen (Hill), and his siblings, Carolyn, Gary and Patricia.
David dedicated many years of his life to serving his community as a valued member of the Harding Middle School staff. He was deeply passionate about his work and made a lasting impact on the students and colleagues he worked with.
Outside of his career, David had a love for sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed attending Big Red football, basketball, and softball games, where he found joy in supporting local teams and sharing those moments with family and friends.
David will be remembered for his warm heart, dedication to his family, and his unwavering spirit in the face of adversity. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Steubenville High School Athletics.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
