David is preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Florence "Flo" Higgins (d. 2016) and is survived by his son, Jim (Kristie) Higgins; daughters, Margaret (Hoyte) Gilley, and Christie (Sean) Clemens; grandchildren, Janice, Andy, Timmy, Josh, Stefani, Missy, Kenny, Mikey, Makayla and Alexus; his numerous great-grandchildren; his brother, Rick (Becky) Higgins and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
