David Ralph Hoffman arrived in this world on February 23, 1936, and for Heaven on September 25, 2024. He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Barbara Ardapple Hoffman. He was preceded by his daughter, Elizabeth Ruth Hoffman, and his parents, Rev. Joseph and Jessie Hoffman.
David joined the Marine Corps before officially graduating from high school. After serving his country in Korea and Southeast Asia, he eventually came to Peoria to attend Bradley University. He joined the Peoria County Sheriff's Department and later the Peoria Police Department and continued his life service until retiring in 1986.
David's joys in life included boating, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, the St. Louis Cardinals, guns and shooting, and reading. He and Barbara had a wonderful life together enjoying their friends on the river, and as long-time members of the Ivy Club. They were so privileged to travel the world. Sitting on the deck or in the kitchen being able to see the beautiful Illinois River in all seasons, and loving their dogs was their favorite pass time. Josie misses him dearly.
Preferred memorials in David's memory may be made to two very special places in his heart, the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or Marine Corps Toys for Tots (toysfortots.org), or a charity of the donor's choosing.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at the Ivy Club, 5102 N. Galena Road, in Peoria Heights on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm.
