David R. Hollinshead, 72, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 as a result from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Masonic Rites and funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
David was born on March 13, 1953, in Salem, IL, the son of Raymond and Imogene (Rogers) Hollinshead. He married Kathleen Mettendorf on December 28, 1990.
David had a love for woodworking and could truly make anything out of wood. He was known for his life-size figures and outdoor Christmas decorations. He also enjoyed fishing. He was very handy and could fix just about anything.
David is survived by his wife, Kathy Hollinshead of Teutopolis; children, Tracey Hollinshead and Justin Hollinshead; stepchildren, Cindy (Keith) Einhorn, Jeremy Dalton, and Rachel Verdeyen; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Dana (Dan) Underwood, Linda (Wilbur) Ingram-Hollinshead, Dreama (Dennis) Robinson, and Alan (Becky) Hollinshead; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kodie Hollinshead; brother, Joe Hollinshead; and brother-in-law, John Mettendorf.
