A memorial service for David W. Hollrah of Warroad, MN will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 2:00PM at the Warroad Baptist Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at America Cemetery in Warroad, MN.
David Ward Hollrah was born to Gordon and Agnes Hollrah in Roseau, Minnesota on March 25, 1958. Raised in Northern Minnesota on their dairy farm, David attended Warroad High School, played on the basketball team and excelled in the arts: playing French Horn, singing, drawing, and painting landscapes. After attending Northwestern College in Roseville, MN, he met his future wife Kris Swanson, as they worked together for Twin Cities Molding and Picture Framing. They were married on September 8, 1984 and initially settled down in the Twin Cities area, where David managed his company, Hollrah Irrigation.
Years later the couple relocated to the Warroad area, where David and Kris reopened their business. His skills included that of home-building, designing and building flagstone fireplaces, and installing irrigation systems. While he and Kris generously supported Gordon and Aggie in their later years, his proficiency in maintaining his parent's vintage home was apparent. He ran a herd of beef cattle, was an excellent mechanic, and loved refurbishing and restoring antiques, vehicles/tractors, and computers, producing a variety of tutorials for his Youtube channel dwhollrah. David's love of music was ever-present in his life, as he played guitar and cello, lending his warm singing voice to numerous church and special events, yet he preferred to sing for dogs, kids, and cows. He was known for his witty sense of humor and his deep compassion for animals.
He might be best known for his generous and loyal friendship with many, the sharing of his advice and deep faith in God, and of lending a hand to those in need. He offered faithful ministries through On Eagles Wings Fellowship, holding Bible studies at Warroad Baptist Church, and in-home Sunday morning church gatherings. He cherished Kristi, loved her cooking, and her ability to keep him semi-organized, as her skills and talents augmented his own in so many ways.
He is survived by his wife, Kristi (Swanson) Hollrah of Warroad; sister Suzanne Hollrah of Lompoc, CA, sister Juli (Donald) Bitzer of Warroad, MN, and sister Belinda (Robert) Neumann of St. Francis, MN, and the younger generations on both sides of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Agnes Hollrah.
