David Meador Hoover of Dover passed away, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Kent General Hospital. He was 64.
Mr. Hoover was born August 12, 1959 in Roanoke, Virginia to Gladys Meador Hoover and the late Kenneth Loving Hoover.
He served in the United States Air Force for 17 years retiring in 1995 as Msgt., where he was a survival equipment specialist. After his military career he worked as a computer technician at DNREC, which evolved into DTI, where he was still employed after over 22 years. Mr. Hoover loved creating time with his family whether it be outings, trips or quality time at home. He also enjoyed gaming, watching movies, tinkering with computers and solving technology problems. He was a Green Bay Packers and Chase Elliot, of NASCAR, fan and loved watching those sports with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, doing projects around the house and telling Dad jokes. He was a member of New City Church in Dover where he happily served in any way he could. He valued the people of New City and was always blessed by every service, conversation and Bible Study.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Loving Hoover.
He is survived by his mother Gladys of Moneta, VA; his wife of 38 years, Catherine "Cathy" Perry Hoover of Dover; children, Rebecca, Matthew, Robert and Sarah Hoover, all of Dover; sisters, Martha Ann Anderson and her husband, Charles, of Moneta, VA, Jean Robbins and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte, NC, Betty Tustin and her husband, John, of Berlin, MD, Mary Roberts and her husband, Tim, of Charlotte, NC and Kay Carlton and her husband, Brad, of Elgin, SC, brother-in-law, David Perry and his wife, Christine, of Maricopa, AZ, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, June 29, 2024 at New City Church, 761 S. Little Creek Road, Dover, DE 19901. The visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be private.
