David Richard Howard

David Richard Howard passed away on January 13, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born February 13, 1948, in Houston, Texas, to Horace and Lurline Howard.

After graduating from San Marcos High School in 1966, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Southwest Texas State University in 1970.

David married Beverly Rue Tippie on January 18, 1969, at Westover Baptist Church in San Marcos. High school sweethearts, this loving couple enjoyed nearly 57 years of devoted marriage. During the bulk of their marriage, they lived in the San Marcos area, before moving to Bastrop, Texas, in 2022.

David began his career as a junior high and high school teacher, but he spent the bulk of his career in home construction and remodeling as the head of Howard Construction, which was started by his father. He was also a house-mover in the local area.

That said, David's largest source of pride came from his treasured family. He loved watching his sons excel professionally, become leaders within their communities, and mature into exceptional husbands and fathers. He always considered their success as his most meaningful legacy.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Horace & Lurline Howard.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Howard; son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Michele Howard; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Jamie Howard; grandchildren, Alexandra Snow and husband Andrew, Tyler Howard, Gwyneth Howard, & Gladys Howard; great-grandchildren, Haven, Rhodes, & Sterling Snow. He is also survived by his twin sisters, Linda Howard Owen and Brenda Howard Davis.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date. There will be no public service.
