Jack Eben Obituary

Jack Nixon Eben, age 75, went to be with his LORD on January 23, 2026, while hunting in Cameroon, Africa - doing what the loved dearly alongside the one he loved dearly.

Jack was born in San Marcos, Texas on January 10, 1951, to Dolores and Jack Edmund Eben of Martindale, Texas. He graduated from San Marcos High School in 1969 and went on to earn a degree in business from Southwest Texas State in 1975. In 2014 Jack was honored as a San Marcos High School Distinguished Alumni.

As a strong Christian man of faith, Jack was a lifetime member of the Martindale Baptist Church, where his faith guided every aspect of his life. He built a successful career in construction as the owner and operator of Hopson Builders, serving his community from 1984 until his retirement in 2024.

Jack had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter who traveled the world pursuing that passion. He also loved working on his ranch in Junction, Texas and found his greatest joy in time spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His life was rooted in faith, family and friendship.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dolores McEntire and Jack Edmond Eben, and his first wife, Kaye Hopson Eben.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Gina Moore Eben, his son David (Kelly) and his daughter, Keri (Rob), his sister Susan Huchingson, and his brother-in-law, Bobby Moore. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many other cherished family members.

Jack will be deeply missed by his family and many, many dear friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Jaques Spamer of JKO Safaris for his assistance, care and dedication to Jack during his final hunting trip in Cameroon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Martindale Baptist Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Ducks Unlimited, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. January 10, 1951 - January 23, 2026

Jack was always very welcoming to all of us, generous to share, spending joyful time with friends. He shared his home and ranch time and time again with classmates so we could appreciate his blessing and wonderful lifestyle. He lived life to the fullest and was never satisfied with mediocrity for himself. A life well-lived --Jack Eben.
