Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Age 73 years.
Born in 1951, David lived a life defined by service, devotion, and kindness. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he carried the values of duty, perseverance, and honor with him throughout his life. David had a passion for gardening and found great joy in rescuing and caring for animals, sharing his gentle heart not only with his family but with all living things. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, quiet strength, and the countless ways he touched the lives of others.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Howard; his children, Christine Strong (John), and Frederick Howard (Janette); his grandchildren, Shelbie, Wyatt, Ashley, Cameron, Stephanie, and TJ; and his great-grandchildren Landon and Mason. He was preceded in death by his son David Howard, Jr.
Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Covenant HealthCare-Harrison, especially the 8th floor, for their kind and compassionate care of David.
Honoring David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services will take place. Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603.
