David R. Hubbard Sr.

David R. Hubbard, 82, of Pittsfield, passed away suddenly at home on August 25th, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Gladys and Edward Hubbard, David was raised in Pittsfield as one of nine siblings, where he developed a strong sense of family.

David's journey began in the halls of Pittsfield Schools, where he met the love of his life, Mildred Vallone. Their bond was unbreakable, and together they created a close-knit family filled with love and laughter. Just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary, David and Mildred are now reunited, leaving behind a legacy of devotion that will forever inspire their loved ones.

A dedicated employee, David spent many years working at General Electric, where he was known for his hard work ethic and commitment. He was also an avid golfer at the G.E.A.A., where he enjoyed the sport and the friendships it fostered. A passionate Boston sports fan, David found joy in cheering for his favorite teams, especially the Boston Red Sox.

David had a love for coffee and donuts, enjoying these simple pleasures at any time of day. He found a second family at Shelly's diner, where he was a regular and cherished by the staff who took great care of him. His warm smile and friendly nature made him a beloved figure in the community.

He is survived by his sisters, Judith Yon, Donna (Larry) Belanger, and Gloria Knappe, as well as his children, David Hubbard Jr. and Debora (Jay) Goyette. David's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Alicya, Haley, Samantha, and Jay, along with five great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

David R. Hubbard will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for family, and his love for life. He leaves behind many memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

There will be a graveside service Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1 pm at St. Joseph Cemetery in Section 19.
