David Samuel Hughey, 79, of Blythewood, South Carolina passed away April 2, 2025, at his Residence in Blythewood, South Carolina. He was born on March 2, 1946 in Greenville, South Carolina to James and Ruby (Darnell) Hughey.
David is a Carolina High School graduate, United States Air Force veteran, Clemson University graduate, and retired Finance Director of Greenville County, South Carolina. He loved his family, animals, Pepsi, golf, and was once an excellent basketball player. He was known to his friends as Hutch.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Kleckley Hughey; son, David Kleckley Hughey; stepson, Saul Edward; special grandchildren, Scarlot Saylors & Julian Millender; brothers, Gary (Gloria) Hughey of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Mike (Sybil) Hughey of Clemson, South Carolina, Steve (Mary) Hughey of Pulaski, Tennessee; and sisters, JoAnn Pyron of Atlanta, Georgia, Terri Diane (Ronnie) Woods of Atlanta, Georgia, Marlene (Kenny) Reeves of Piedmont, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Dee 'Sonny' Hughey, Jr.
A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers and support team at Heart of Hospice and the Veterans Affairs Home Care. Most special to David was Debra Walters for her friendship, care, and support.
The family will receive friends at Woodridge Mausoleum Chapel on Monday, April 7th from 1pm-2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Rev. Princetta White officiating. The Interment will be at Woodridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, Fisher House, or National Parks Foundation.
