David Morrison Hunter was born on March 28, 1960, to Charles and Joyce (Morrison) Hunter in Paynesville. He attended Paynesville Elementary and High School.
In 1977, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Army, going on active duty in 1981. During his service, he was stationed in South Korea and at Fort Lewis, Washington, before completing his active duty in 1984. Two years later, in 1986, Dave joined the Minnesota Army National Guard, where he served as a vehicle driver, combat construction specialist, team leader, and squad leader. He retired from military service in 2003.
In 1992, Dave was united in marriage to JoAnn Crandall, and they shared many years together before later divorcing. On June 24, 2006, Dave married Kelli Quist, and they made their home in Belgrade.
Dave retired from Pilgrim's Pride April 24, 2023, as a maintenance worker. He has seen many changes companywide throughout his 37 years of service. He started his employment with Gold'n Plump on April 14, 1986. Dave held numerous positions within the company while he was there. He saw the company change hands from Gold'n Plump to Maschoff's finally to Pilgrim's Pride. Dave helped when Gold'n Plump had their fire in 1998. He put many hours in while Pilgrim's Pride went through their expansion process. He enjoyed working for the maintenance department. To be honest, we think he enjoyed working six days a week.
Outside of work, Dave enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching westerns, many years of league bowling, sipping Windsor-7's, and relaxing on his back deck. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren-his greatest joy was being surrounded by family. Dave was known for his unmistakable high-pitched "What?" whenever someone called his name.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kelli; children: Billy Slininger, Caden Hunter, Christopher (fiancée, Ann) Platow, Angela (fiancé, Roman) Rodriguez, Teresa (Jamie) Coulter, Bri (significant other, Travis) Heckes, Destiny (fiancé, Jose) Heckes, and Marissa (Dylan) Schleuger; 12 grandchildren and one on the way; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Chuck (Linda) Hunter, Rocky Hunter, Larry (Sheree) Hunter, and Deb (Tim) Younkin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Joyce, and his daughter, Bobby Jean Anderson.
