David Brian Iddings, age 66, of Pleasantville, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2025. Born June 3, 1959, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, David lived his life with hard-earned pride, fierce loyalty, and a heart full of music.
A master of his craft, David spent decades working in the drywall construction and insulation business with his dad. He was respected by many for his keen skills and in-depth knowledge of construction. He embodied a true blue-collar work ethic-working hard, playing harder, and never cutting corners. Whether building with his hands or making others laugh, he was all in.
Beyond the job site, David's soul thrived in music. A self-taught guitarist and gifted harmonica player, and a knack for crafting playful lyrics. He would often light up stages across Marion County and neighboring communities through several local bands. His creativity extended beyond music-his woodworking showcased the same artistry and care that made his music so soulful. It was his genuine love of creating that made him unforgettable.
Dave was joined by many friends and family for a 100 mile motorcycle ride in celebration of the person he was and the love and admiration they all had for him. The love he gave his loyal dogs: Lilly and Princess, who now linger near his chair, their quiet loyalty echoing the bond they shared with the man who called them family.
Those left behind to honor his memory include his son Bret (Jessica) Iddings, daughter Samantha Gray, sisters Elizabeth Darrah and Carrie (Owen) Williams, seven grandchildren: Threalynn, Rylee, Zeke, Max, Jeb, Finn, Rebecca, and bonus mom Elsie Kemp, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who were as close as family.
David was preceded in death by his son Luke Iddings, mother Lila (Robuck/Iddings) Smith, and father Adrian Iddings.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville (corner of Main and Harlan). Burial will be at a later date at the Lincoln Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society.
David lived quiet, loved deeply, and left behind stories worth retelling for generations. He will be deeply missed-and never forgotten.
