David Keller Ipson, 81, of North Ogden, passed away on November 8, 2025.
David was born on June 16, 1944, to Donald Keller Ipson and Shirley Hanks at the U.S. Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. He grew up in Salt Lake City, where he loved to get into mischief with his Capitol Hill friends, often turning the State Capitol building into their personal playground. From a young age, David learned that one of life's greatest joys was teasing his five sisters, a skill he proudly and humorously practiced throughout his life.
He graduated from West High School in 1962 and soon began basic training with the Army Reserves in Monterey, California. From August 1963 to August 1965, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central British Mission. David was a devoted member of the Church and served faithfully in many callings, including Sunday School instructor, Elder's Quorum President, and more than 20 years in Scouting and Young Men's.
After attending classes at both the University of Utah and BYU, David moved to Tustin, California, in 1968, where he worked as a construction manager, general contractor, and real estate developer. He met the love of his life, Karen Stanfill, and was able to convince her to marry him in Southern California on April 29, 1977. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple. Together, they raised four children, Daniel, Michael, Rachel, and Katherine.
David loved fast cars, hunting, camping, fishing, and rock climbing. He loved the outdoors and the thrill of adventure, but he was happiest when surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Whether he was waterskiing, working on a project, or taking a drive, he approached life with enthusiasm and a sense of humor. He loved music and often pulled out his guitar to entertain the grandkids. David had a kind and generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
David was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Shirley Ipson, and his sisters, Sally Chesser and Mary McKeller. He is survived by his wife, Karen, children, Daniel (Laree), Michael (Jennette), Rachel, and Katie (Jeffrey), and grandchildren, Emma, Johnathan, Megan, Jacob, Logan, Drew, and Ruby.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 770 E 2100 N, North Ogden, UT 84414, on November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
