It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of a remarkable man, David Alaniz, known fondly to his loved ones as "Iron Man." Born on July 14th, 1966, in Morton, Texas, David was a man of many passions and talents. Known for his funny, thoughtful, loving, and loyal nature, David's spirit was as vast as the Texas sky under which he was born. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation," and David embodied this sentiment fully in his work as a District MG in the auto parts industry. He was an individual who cherished his work as much as his play.
David was a lover of life and its many wonders. His hobbies attested to his dynamic personality and zest. A gym enthusiast, an avid gun collector, and a lover of all things automotive, David was a man who savored the thrill of the open road and the roar of an engine. There was nothing more he loved than cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, with his family and friends. David's charisma was infectious, his laughter a melody that will perpetually echo in the hearts of those who loved him. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "It is not length of life, but depth of life," and David's life, though cut shorter than we would have wished, was a testament to a life lived with depth, passion, and love. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and countless friends that will miss him dearly.
David is survived by his children, Chauntee Travis, Mercedes Matheny, David Alaniz Jr, and Davin Alaniz, whom he loved deeply. His grandchildren, Joseph, Tyler, Nickoles, Griffin, Eli, Ethan, and Ryleigh, were the apples of his eye and brought immense joy to his life. He was a beloved brother to Janie, Tammy, Sibia, Jimmy, Betty, and Tomas. A cherished uncle to Tammy, Mallory, Kristy, Benjamin, Izak, Louis, Ashley, Isaiah, Charity, and Jessi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Carmen Alaniz, his aunt Corina Naranjo, his uncle John Naranjo Sr, nephew Andy Macias III, and his cousins John Jr and Joe Naranjo.
A visitation service will be held in honor of David on Wednesday, 13th November 2024, at 1:00 PM CST at Carnes Funeral Home - CTC, located at 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas. The memorial service will follow at the same venue at 2:00 PM CST.
David's life was a melody of love, laughter, and passion. His spirit and memory will remain forever etched in our hearts. In celebration of his life, we encourage you to share your favorite memories of David and upload photos to his memorial page. May his legacy continue to inspire us to live life to the fullest, just as he did.

Helena and Rich Pettit - November 20, 2024

We have known David for almost 20 years. we met Dave when he was manager at Bob Evans in Waldorf, Maryland. He sat down at our table to ask how things were going; from that moment on we were friends for life. I can't begin to say how devasted we were to learn of his passing. Dave and I have been texting every day for over a year. He would post daily. My last post from him was on November 2, 2024. I knew something had gone wrong when his posts stopped. I went online this morning and saw what I was hoping not to see. I will keep his family in prayer.

Rest in Heavenly Peace my friend
