David Lee Jester

Funeral services for Mr. David Lee Jester, age 65, are scheduled for 10 AM Monday, March 6, 2023 at Golden Funeral Home with Rev. David Sistrunk officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, from 9 AM until 10 AM service time at Golden's.
David was born, August 5, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 2, 2023. David was very dedicated to his family, friends, and to the community of Bastrop. He was always willing to help others with whatever they needed, no matter the situation. David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He also had a black belt in karate and thrived on being the best he could be in all aspects of life. He was a 1976 graduate of Prairie View Academy.
David devoted 27 years to the Bastrop Fire Department before retiring. In his career he served as a fireman, a driver, a captain, and Fire Prevention Officer until he was promoted to Fire Prevention Chief. He was always very well respected and thought highly of by everyone who worked with him.
He is survived by his only son, Adam Jester and wife Jessica; grandson, Logan Jester; his devoted mother, Claudette Jester Smith; sister, Donna Jester Helms and husband Jeff; his two nephews whom he adored, Evan Bordelon and Bonner Bordelon. David is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his life long friend Kenny Leggett.
David is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Jester; step-father, Robert Smith; brothers, Dane Jester and James Fassler; sister, Jane Susan Baker; maternal grandparents, James Arthur Norris and Thelma Bonner Norris; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Rilla Marie Jester.
Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Jester, Evan Bordelon, Bonner Bordelon, Travis Whitehead, Kenneth Leggett and William Heath.
