Dave was married to Kathleen Brown and to this union a son, Kiel David, was born. He worked for United Airlines in Chicago. On April 29, 1989, Dave was united in marriage to Connie McLain in Bettendorf, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Miranda, Gabe and Aubree. The family moved outside of Missouri Valley, Iowa in 1996 and later to Logan, Iowa in 2014. Dave worked for Cargill until his retirement in 2018. He then drove truck for Gochenour Farms. Dave was a member of Lifeline Church in Dunlap and then Grace Community Fellowship in Missouri Valley.
Throughout his life, Dave embraced a variety of interests that brought him joy. He was a passionate dreamer, always envisioning the possibilities that lay ahead. His love for music, particularly the classic tunes of the oldies mixed with some contemporary Christian music, echoed through his home and heart. Fishing was more than just a hobby for Dave, it was a peaceful retreat. Among his simple pleasures, David had a particular fondness for Sterzing Potato Chips paired with a refreshing Pepsi, a nostalgic nod to his favorite tastes. He was also deeply devoted to equine therapy, a testament to his affection for animals and their profound healing abilities. He had hoped to start a riding center himself but also volunteered at Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy in Valley, Nebraska. Dave’s faith led him to be a devoted member of his church where he served as a deacon. Family was at the core of David's life. He cherished his loved ones, always making time for gatherings and creating lasting memories.
