David Joel Johnson, 85, of Coventry, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 5, 2025. He was the devoted husband of Jean A. (McLellan) Johnson. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Otto T. and Lucille M. (Berger) Johnson.

David proudly served in the United States Navy and worked as the Manager for Davol Incorporated for over forty years until his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Alongside his wife, Jean A. (McLellan) Johnson of Coventry, he is survived by his beloved children, David J. Johnson Jr. (Jeanne) of Coventry and Kirsten A. Proctor (Steven) of Coventry, his grandchildren, Ryan Schortmann, Alexandra Milone, Bradley Johnson, and Bethany Noonan, and his great-grandchildren, River and Skye.

He was the father of the late Lisa Johnson and brother of the late Richard T. Johnson and Carole L. Geldard.

Interment with Military Honors will take place on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 1:30PM at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail Exeter.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: J. Arthur Trudeau Center, 3445 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886.
