David H. Jones

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David H. Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on February 16, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on May 20, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, David embodied the spirit of determination and resilience throughout his life.

David proudly served in the United States Army as a Green Beret, demonstrating extraordinary courage and commitment to his country. His service was a testament to his character and dedication, and he carried the values of bravery and integrity with him throughout his life.

For many years, David worked as a garage door installer with Atlas Door, where he was known for his skill, work ethic, and friendly demeanor. Colleagues and clients alike appreciated his craftsmanship and the warmth he brought to every interaction.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Vaughn Jones, who was his partner and confidant through all of life's challenges. He leaves behind four cherished children and their spouses: Jerry E. Smith, Brian and Lisa Jones, Michael and Deborah Smith, and Tammie and Shane Capps. David took immense joy in his role as a grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, often sharing stories and wisdom that will resonate through generations.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Juliette Frances Dupree, and his son, Danny Smith.

David's life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and country. As we remember him, we honor his legacy and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, Bro. Keith Runels officiating. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at Carroll Memory Gardens, where we will pay our final respects.

Prior to the service, the family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing them to gather and share their memories.
