David J. Justa
Bay City, Michigan
David J. Justa, a devoted family man and passionate motorcycle and car enthusiast, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Covenant Cooper Hospital, with his wife and son by his side. He was 75 years old.
Dave was born on July 24, 1949, in Bay City, MI, to the late Alfred and Angeline (Heinz) Justa. He served his country in the US Army from 1969 to 1971, stationed in Germany. On May 4, 1974, he married the love of his life, Ruth C. Steyer, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. They shared a beautiful 50-year marriage.
Dave attended St. Stanislaus grade school and graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1967. He worked as a journeyman millwright at Prestolite until its closure, after which he joined RWC as a machine builder until his retirement.
A man of faith, Dave was a member of Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church. He was also an active member of the Tri-County HOG Club and Saginaw Valley BMW Riders. Dave had a deep love for traveling across the United States with his wife, especially motorcycle trips. Together they made three memorable trips to Sturgis and rode their motorcycles to countless other rallies.
Dave's legacy is one of love, dedication, and adventure. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his wife Ruth, son Jonathan (Amy) Justa, two grandsons Adam and Paul, in-laws who were more like siblings and best friends: Peter (Kathy) Steyer, Jim Steyer and Gloria Steyer, nieces: Amanda (Travis) Heilman, Shannon Steyer (Ryan), Stephanie Steyer (Vince), and Kristin (John) Kozuch. Dave was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Angeline and his sister Rosalee Justa.
The Funeral Mass for Dave will be celebrated Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church, 1000 S. Wenona Street, Bay City, MI 48706. Fr. Bob Byrne will celebrate Mass. Family and friends will gather at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry Street Bay City, MI 48706 on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and again at church on Thursday the 16th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Parish Vigil Service will be held Wednesday, January 15th at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial donations to Corpus Christi Parish or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.squiresfuneralhome.com

I met Dave after buying my first Harley in Bay City in 1984. I was friends with Jenee and therefore Royce and therefore this whole group we called the Bay City Bunch. We´d ride to CycleMoore, we´d ride to the Anal Run in the late summer, we´d ride in Sturgis together, we´d ride at Harley anniversaries in Milwaukee. Come to find out Dave worked at RWC where I was a customer as a manufacturing engineer for Whirlpool buying huge automation lines from. After a time I moved the family to Colorado and visits were far less frequent. But visits as late as post Covid, Dave made sure to come to Pete´s house and reminisce our times together. His face & timing when he´d spin some detailed comedic yarn was perfect and will be ever etched in my memory. God speed brother, enjoy your rides in the Wind on that BMW chopper.
