David Kanczuzewski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann on Aug. 10, 2024.
David Albert Kanczuzewski, age 79, of Knoxville, TN and formerly of Fort Wayne, IN passed away at home after a long illness on Friday, August 2, 2024 with his daughter at his side.
David Albert Kanczuzewski was born on August 12, 1944 in Fort Wayne, IN. He was the son of Casimer and Evelyn (Knepper) Kanczuzewski, the only son and second of four children. David attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1963. He loved cars and learned how to repair and maintain them by always being at the side of his Father.
Looking to expand his world, David joined the Air Force on July 7, 1963 and served 4 years as an Instrument Trainer for pilots. For basic training he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, then was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL and often shared fond memories of his time spent there.
David returned to Fort Wayne, IN when he completed his obligation to the Air Force. On February 12, 1968 he was united in marriage to his wife of 55 years, Nancy Jane Huff. The couple had one daughter, Tanya. Dave's greatest joy was being a Father!
Dave went back to school at Indiana Tech, receiving his B.A. in Psychology. He then started his career with General Telephone Company which merged to become Verizon. He retired after a long career including managing the equipment repair center. After retiring, David and his wife enjoyed their country home in northern Allen County, Indiana. In 2019, David and his wife Nancy moved to Knoxville, TN to be closer to their daughter.
David is preceded in death by his parents Casimer and Evelyn Kanczuzewski, his wife, Nancy Kanczuzewski, brother-in laws R. Lawrence Huff and Richard N. Huff.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his daughter Tanya Kanczuzewski, his sisters Nancy Rose Huff, Sally Kanczuzewski, both of Fort Wayne, IN, and Carol Onken and her husband Roger Onken of Carroll, Iowa; a sister-in-law Martha Dively and her husband Clyde Dively of Traverse City, MI and 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on 2200 E. John Sevier Highway on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. with Military honors. A private Celebration of Life is planned later in Fort Wayne, IN.
