David Michael "Bama " Kingston, 60 of Paragould, left, this life on October 17, 2024. He was born on July 20, 1964 in Dearborn, MI to Gary and Sandra Kingston.
David, the oldest of four Kingston children, was a tough act to follow. His calm and caring nature attracted others, and he found comfort in any circle. David was a standout in sports, excelling in football and baseball from an early age.
In 1978 his family moved to Paragould from Enterprise, AL. It was then that a forgetful coach and a last known location would become a moniker, forever. From that moment forward, most would know him simply as "Bama".
Attending GCT High School, he would make lifelong friends, while achieving sports and academic excellence. He would graduate in 1982, and continued to reflect fondly upon his days at GCT for his remaining years.
Bama was someone who loved people. He was incredibly funny and kind. He loves to sing and was often found belting his favorite karaoke hits. He was an avid golfer, and his favorite hobby was a good tournament and calcutta, preferably with his friends at Fox Hills Country Club.
One of his other favorite hobbies was Memphis Wrestling. He would discover as a kid, and appreciate through adulthood. He would form friendships with many, and turn heroes to housequests with some, such as his personal favorite Tommy "Wildfire" Rich.
Bama was a fantastic chef, and he shared his heart through food. He would turn his pastime into a lifelong career, cooking for anyone interested, and everyone was interested.
He has worked numerous places in various capacities, but most of the last 37 years has been spent side by side with his friend and partner in food, Van Bowden. Feeding those in local factories and businesses, as well as a host of loyal regulars, they would make a great team up to his time of death. Bama would also spend several years at his favorite hideaway gig, duck season at Black River Mallard Resort. Providing first class meals, care & comfort for hunters from across the nation. Leaving lasting impressions on those lucky enough to happen upon that small cabin in Brookings, AR.
His reach was far, and he will be missed by many. Whether you called him David or Bama, whether he sang to you, fed you, or made you laugh, you remembered him. And he remembered you.
David was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Dawn Marie, his grandparents and brother in law, Keith.
He is survived by his life partner, Suzanne Malone and son Raley Malone. His brother, Mark (Brenda) Kingston and sister, Stacie Clark. Nephew, Lucas (Bethany) Clark and nieces, Mahala Kingston, Kristin (John) Zaharopoulos, and Kandice Clark. Numerous cousins and extended family, and a wide circle of friends.
His family will hold a private memorial service.
