David Kinnear, a cherished husband, respected professional, and a devout Christian, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in home
Montgomery, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on November 29, 1946, in the historic town of Kirkcaldy, Scotland, David's early years were shaped by the love and guidance of his late parents, Thomas and Joan Mary Kinnear. He grew up to be a man of profound intelligence, loving kindness, and wise counsel, touching the lives of all who knew him.
David's journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to education and service. A proud alumnus of Kirkcaldy High School, he carried the lessons learned there throughout his life. His career in the engineering sector of the oil industry was both distinguished and adventurous, taking him to Jakarta, Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, Iran, Nigeria, Alaska, and California, before he settled in Houston, Texas. His expertise and passion for teaching led him to share his knowledge both onshore and offshore, leaving a legacy of mentorship and innovation.
David's love story with his surviving wife, Sri Anjarwati, was one of mutual respect and unwavering support. Together, they traversed life's highs and lows with grace and steadfast faith. Their shared love for music, travel, and the open road brought them joy and countless memories. David's life was a testament to the belief that the journey is just as important as the destination.
A devout Christian, David's faith was the cornerstone of his existence. It guided his actions, his words, and his thoughts. He lived by the teachings of Christ and found solace and strength in his beliefs, especially during his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His faith remained unshaken, a beacon of hope for his loved ones.
David's interests were as vast as the world he loved to explore. From the rugged landscapes of Scotland to the vibrant streets of Jakarta, Indonesia, and the serene suburbs of
Montgomery, Texas, he embraced every experience with an open heart and an insatiable curiosity. His road trips were not merely about the places he visited but about the people he met and the lives he touched along the way.
In reflecting on David's life, one is reminded of the words of the great poet Robert Frost: "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." David's legacy is a testament to this simple yet profound truth. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left a mark on this world that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we bid farewell to David Kinnear, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and wisdom. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to inspire and guide us. David's journey on this earth has ended, but his spirit remains with us, reminding us to embrace each day with faith, hope, and love.
