David Bruce Kirby, 65, of Warsaw, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 3, 2025. He is survived by his one true love and fiancé, Micki (Michele Mulkey) who was by his side when he passed away.
He is survived by his two children and three beautiful grandchildren; his daughter Heather R. Trimble (Logan); his son, Tyler J. Kirby (Kari); his three grandchildren Paislee M. Kirby (10 yrs), Declan J. Kirby (4 yrs) via Tyler and Kari E. Kirby. Eli M. Trimble (3 yrs) via Heather and Logan Trimble. Two brothers Steve Kirby (Cynthia "Cindy") and Michael Kirby.
David is survived by his future mother-in-law, Brenda Crew, someone he called his "Mom". They shared a very close bond and everlasting friendship as mother and son.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rip Kirby.
David proudly served our country in the Navy as an Aviation Structural Mechanic for maintaining Naval aircraft structures from 1978 - 1983. He continued his government service as a mail carrier until his retirement in the mid 2000's.
David loved listening and sharing all kinds of music including classic rock, contemporary Christian and country. He also enjoyed watching great adventure and Christian based movies with Micki on date nights filled with great food, treats, lots of love and laughter. Dave was a vibrant, handsome, "mountain man", kind-to-a-fault, devoted Christian man. He was extremely committed to his future wife Micki and made every day special, full of love and filled with unforgettable memories. David was also a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He often spoke of so many fun times with his children including a cruise, trips to the mountains, Great Wolf Lodge the beach and so much more. He cherished those beautiful memories with his wonderful children. He was an extremely proud father.
Dave especially loved the mountains where he and Micki spent many incredible vacations and had hoped to permanently settle down.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for family and close friends on August 23, 2025 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 144 Ebenezer Church Road, Oldhams, Virginia; Loretta A. Benninghove, Pastor. The family will begin receiving guests between 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
