David Joseph Kwilos, Sr., 77, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away at home on August 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 26, 1947, in Eden, New York, David’s life was defined by unyielding determination, inventive spirit, and love for his family.

David served as a Navy Diver, demonstrating honor and commitment in his years of military service. Never one to shy away from a challenge, he channeled his skills and curiosity into entrepreneurship—owning and operating several companies, and often fixing vehicles and machinery singlehandedly. A man of many talents, David was the “MacGyver” of his family, legendary for his handyman skills and remarkable ability to fix nearly anything using little more than a hanger and some duct tape. From welding to scuba diving, piloting his own plane, or building his family home with his own hands, David’s legacy as an innovator and handyman extraordinaire will live on.

Those who knew David will fondly recall his love of boxing, his appreciation for adventure movies, and his unique ability to watch the movie Avatar time and again.

David is survived by his wife, Jingyi Zeng; his son Joseph Kwilos; his daughters, Lorrie (John) Tiner, Audra (fiancé Josiah) Floyd, Christina Kwilos and Yukina "Yoyo" Smith; his siblings Karen (Tony) Privitera, Paul (Kathy) Kwilos and Shirley Franz; his cherished grandchildren, Collin Kwilos, Sarah Floyd, Alex Tiner, Julia Floyd, Brianna O'keeffe and Terra Tiner as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Mildred Kwilos; his son David Joseph Kwilos, Jr.; and siblings Jeff Kwilos and Joan Throm.

There will be a viewing/gathering event from 5-7pm on Wednesday, September 3rd at the International Baptist Church of Arlington located at 1013 W. Parkrow Dr. Arlington, Texas 76013. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 4th 11am . The location of the graveside is at the DFW National Military Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. For those attending the graveside service be prepared to meet in Lane 1 of the DFW National Cemetery at 10:45 am. After events (Wed/Thurs), gatherings are still being planned and will be announced closer to the days.

David was a true fighter, defying the odds through battles with multiple cancers. He lived his life with far more than nine lives—leaving behind a legacy of strength and ingenuity that his family and friends will forever remember.
