Jack of all trades, master of none, though often times, better than a master of one. David Allen Lair Sr., age 83, of Palestine, Texas passed away in Tyler, Texas on October 30th. David lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, and service to others. He often surprised others with his ability to fix or fabricate just about anything, and then follow it up with his punch line, "am I right, or am I right".
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, 1940, to Martin Clair Lair and Edith Mclaughlin. He was the middle child of five siblings. He started his business ventures early on and one of his most dotted accomplishments was his ice cream and soda pop cart that he obtained legal permits for at the age of twelve. That drive continued into many other ventures: a brake shop, a tow yard, repo, painting, a pool hall, and finally his most prized retirement venture – His RV Park. He worked until the very end and loved it!
David's pride and joy in life was his son David Jr. and now he's reunited in death after almost 20 years of separation. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Vickey, Jerry, and Tim.
He's survived by brothers Clair and Larry; grandchildren Jessica, David III, and Chris; and five great grandchildren.
Please join us to celebrate the life of David at 2pm on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024. Services will be located at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home, 3434 TX-256 Loop, Palestine, Texas 75801.
