Tucker Farris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
Tucker Royal Farris, Jr. "Nip" was born on January 17, 1951, in Pasadena, Texas to Tucker Royal Farris, Sr. and Frances Helen Miller Farris. He grew up in Palestine, Texas where he planted his roots and formed lifelong friendships.

Tucker graduated from Palestine High School in 1969 and later moved to Austin with some of his closest friends to pursue a degree in Business from The University of Texas at Austin. While in Austin, he began dating his hometown classmate, Mary Grace Seale. They were married in 1973 and returned home to raise their three children.

Tucker found great joy in family life. He loved spending time at deer camp with friends, taking his family to the lake, and being involved in all of his children's activities. Together with close family and friends, he and Mary Grace created lasting memories and a kind of fun that future generations still try to compete with. Tucker was known for his quick wit, steady humor, and quiet acts of kindness.

Before joining his father at Tucker Farris Body Shop in the 1980's, Tucker worked as a salesman for Hodges Packing Company, Exxon, and worked in freight claims at Union Pacific Railroad. He stayed warm in his pocket, ready to help at a moment's notice. He proudly continued the ownership and reputation of Tucker Farris Body Shop and Wrecker Service, serving the community for 51 years.

Tucker lived 75 years well. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met and was known as the kind of man who would be there at any hour of the day or night for anyone in need. He truly would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. He believed everyone deserved a second chance and often sought friendships with those who had fallen on hard times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tucker and Helen Farris.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Grace Farris; daughter, Lindsey Mitchell; son, Cody Farris; daughter, Jamie "Fancy" Farris; grandchildren, Mason Mitchell, Brody Mitchell, and Madison Mitchell; sister, Fran Lusk and her husband Stan Lusk; along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family extends special thanks to his devoted caregivers and the staff of Windermere Reflections Memory Care and Trucare Living Center for their kindness and compassionate care.

Memorial services are under the care of Herrington / Land of Memory with Dan Manuel officiating. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and service at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ on Crockett Road in Palestine, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or any local charities that help people in our community.
