David Mark Lane of Coal City, WV passed away at the young age of 39 on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Although David lived most of his life in Coal City, he spent some of his happiest years traveling the country, and beyond, playing golf. Despite trying, and succeeding, in almost every sport, golf was his passion and allowed him to make so many friends and memories along the way.

As an adult David became an entrepreneur and opened several IT companies quietly working from home, building websites, educational platforms, and networking communities, with his sweet dog Lucy. David loved to work and found deep joy in building useful products for his customers. Some of his customers became like family and he was so thankful for them.

God was kind enough to allow all of his grandparents to greet David in Heaven when he arrived. Barbara and John G. Kelley of Coal City, and Frances Lane of Mabscott preceded him in death along with his Aunt Betty Kelley, Uncle Ben Kelley, Uncle Bill Graham, and favorite cousin Joe Kelley.

If you knew David or talked to him even one time, you likely knew his heart was huge, very soft, and completely filled with love for his family. He will be deeply missed by his parents Karen Lane, who he called an angel on Earth, and Richard Lane, his life long best friend. He also left behind his big sister Kelli Carrico and husband Tim Carrico, along with nieces Katie Edwards, Emma Carrico and Gracie Carrico, and nephew Cole Carrico. He will also be grieved by his great aunt Sue Graham of Coal City, WV.

The family invites you to join them in remembering David’s life on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. They will have a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a short service to follow at 11:00 am at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, WV.
