Larry Stephenson Cole passed away at the age of 70 with loving family by his side on May 28, 2025.
Larry was a care free and outgoing man who knew no stranger. He was the definition of a people person, talking to anyone he met. Especially if it was about cars.
If you knew Larry, you knew how much he loved cars, and even more so, how he loved to tell stories. Whether it was about his travels, his family, or about the mischief he got into with his wife, Becky, he always had a story to tell.
No matter what was going on, Larry was always in good spirits and looked on the bright side of things.
He was born on January 6, 1955. He was the son of the late Jess and Ida Cole. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Becky Cole, parents, Ida Thompson Cole and Jess W. Cole, sisters Virginia Bolen and Easter Johnston, brothers Hershel Cole and Jess A. Cole.
Larry is survived by his daughter Diana Smith and her husband Charles Smith, three grandchildren Abby Smith, Treh Smith, Chase Barkley and his wife Makayla, stepson, Calvin Garretson, his wife Tina Garretson and three grandchildren, Cati Garretson, Cindi Garretson and Colton Garretson, five siblings Margret Mills, John Cole, Janet Messer, Mettie Blankenship and husband Eddie, Charles Cole and wife Drema and sister-in-law Donna Cole along with niece and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Younce officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
