David Richard Lawrence

David Richard Lawrence, born in 1956, in Pontiac, Michigan, passed away peacefully in December 2024, at the age of 68. He was the beloved son of the late Richard D. ("RD") and Bernice Lawrence.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his son Nathan (Katie) Lawrence; Kathy Lawrence, mother of their children; his treasured grandchildren Phoenix, Andrew and Benjamin, and Nicholas; his sister Linda (Rick) Spencer; sisters-in-law Marsha (Mike) McReynolds and Debbie (Terry) Tompkins; brother-in-law Rob (Gay) Kluwe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by daughter Melissa, his brother Leo Ahonen, and his parents.
A hardworking and dedicated provider for his family, Dave retired from General Motors after an impressive 30-year career but remained active through continued work and hobbies. He was a man of strong opinions who enjoyed lively discussions and bantering back and forth with his family and friends but always respected differing views.
Dave had a zest for life that shone through in his passions and pastimes. He was a skilled unicyclist who performed his tricks in the awe of a surrounding crowd. Summers spent at the trailer park brought him joy, where he could often be found driving his golf cart while visiting with his friends or attending late-night bonfires at the park. An avid motorcyclist and proud member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club, he delighted in journeys on two wheels. His love for old cars often drew him to classic car shows, while bottling wine for family celebrations became a cherished tradition.
In quieter moments, he enjoyed watching shows like *Survivor*, *Storage Wars*, and *Pickers*.
Above all else, Papa Dave adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held this summer with a journey north to the Mackinac Bridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
