David Leighton, 54, of Hanson, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in his own home on March 9th.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in the summer of 1969, David was a beloved son, father, and friend. He was the second son of Irene Leighton and the proud father of two sons, Shawn Leighton and Dylan Leighton.
David graduated from Charlestown High School in 1987 and dedicated 31 years to his career as an account executive, holding various sales-oriented roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
Known for his deep respect for veterans, David frequently spent holidays volunteering at the Brockton VA Hospital and paying tribute to our nation's heroes at the Bourne National Cemetery.
A devoted family man and a gracious host, David cherished spending time with loved ones, often hosting gatherings filled with laughter, music, and delicious food. He also found joy in the companionship of his beloved dogs, Bono, Daisy, Jhett, and Scout. David had a passion for golf and cherished the times he spent on the course with his sons and friends.
David is survived by his two sons, Dylan Leighton and Shawn Leighton, both of Hanson, Massachusetts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's visiting hours on Monday, March 18th from 4:00-7:00 PM with a service to follow at 7:00 PM, at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, MA.

There were so many great times with Dave to put on this page. I was a very close friend to Dave since our time at BCBSMA. We played golf together too many times to count. We often ribbed each other in who was going to beat who, he won the vast majority of them. Dave was an intelligent man, a good man, and one of the best friends anyone could have had. I am going to miss you buddy.

Dave & I developed a friendship over a shared love of similar music discovered while working as colleagues. He would often end our phone calls with "love ya, buddy" ultimately inspiring me to reply in kind. He was one of the sweetest souls I've ever known as well as a salt-of the-earth straight shooter...a rare combination I hadn't encountered before and haven't since. Rest peacefully my friend--Jay

You will be missed my friend
We spent many a cold night hanging out having a couple on the streets of Charlestown because on quite a few occasions we were not welcome to join said social gathering at someone´s house
Wouldn´t have had it any other way Davey D!
