David John Liebl

David Liebl, age 84, of Northfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2025, at the care center in the Northfield Retirement Community.
David John Liebl was born on September 9, 1941 in Springfield MN, to Joseph and Louise Liebl. He lived with his family on several farms in that area and also in the Morris/Alberta area. His family later moved to Glenwood MN, and he graduated from Glenwood High School in 1959.
David started an electrical apprenticeship and was initiated into Local 1147 that same year. The National Board of Electrical Workers was a great way to make a living, and he was always a dedicated union man. He became a journeyman electrician and certified welder.
He married Karen Schipporeit on February 3, 1962 in Rapid City, SD. They were blessed with three children; Michael, Nancy and Scott. The family moved many times and lived in seven states during the next years. David worked in eight states.
In 1974, they bought a farm near Morris, MN. David continued to work on electrical jobs away from home, and he also farmed. He made many friends with other electricians. The children grew up on the farm, and David and Karen lived there for 45 years. David retired in 2003 after working 44 years in the electrical trade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Louise Liebl, his brother, Bernard Liebl, and his sister Doris Hoffrogge. He is survived by his wife, Karen Liebl of Northfield MN, three children; Michael Liebl (Michelle) of Prior Lake, MN, Nancy Aarestad (Jeff) of Farmington, MN, and Scott (Amy) Liebl of Oronoco, MN, six grandchildren; William and Gretchen Liebl, Hailey and Joel Aarestad, and Noah and Zac Liebl, siblings; Darrel Liebl of Elbow Lake, MN, Rita Bollier of Phoenix, AZ, and Tom Liebl of Richmond, MN. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home a reception will follow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the donor's choice.
