Watch Carol's Funeral
Carol Liebl, age 84, of
Mahnomen, MN, died on Friday, April 25, 2025, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Carol Marie was born to Enos and Mary (Tschida) Klinkhammer on December 18, 1940, on the Klinkhammer farm near Beaulieu, MN. Growing up, her family moved many times. Carol attended country school, graduating from the 8th grade at Ahmann School. She furthered her schooling at Mahnomen and Detroit Lakes High Schools.
Carol met her dear Cletus at the Flowing Well and they were united in marriage on June 7, 1958. She and Cletus worked together on their farm and raised 11 children. Carol started working away from home when her youngest child started school. She worked for Bob's Meat Market, Bruggeman's SuperValu and then she cooked for St. Michael's School for seven years. During this time, she and Cletus catered many weddings. After she quit cooking, she worked for another seven years at St. Michael's School with the Foster Grandparent program. In 2016, Carol moved into Valley View Commons to be closer to the love of her life. Cletus passed away in October of 2017 at the Mahnomen Health Center. She later moved to the Mahnomen Assisted Living, a wonderful place she was able to make into a loving home right up until the time of her passing.
Carol was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and did a lot of work with the ladies aid. She loved music and was the song leader for many weddings and funerals at church. Carol was past president of St. Michael's National Catholic Society of Foresters. She also loved her flower and vegetable gardens; canning and freezing thousands of quarts of vegetables and pickles for her family.
God, family and friends, in that order, were the most important parts of her life. Being a servant of God was very important. Carol had a huge prayer list she faithfully went through each day and many times she would say, "There isn't much I can do anymore, but I can pray".
Carol is survived by three sons: Francis (Margaret) of Ada, MN, Peter (Marcia) of Fertile, MN, and Duane (Janet) of Gary, MN; seven daughters: Denise (Mark) TeBrake of Glenwood, MN, Kathy (Mike) Gieseke of Winger, MN, Donna (Gary) Langaas of Greenbush, MN, Diane (Doug) Kettner of Mahnomen, Mary Gieseke of Erskine, MN, Anita Revier of Winger, and Karen (Rob) Stech also of Mahnomen; daughter-in-law, Carrie (Joe) Heisler of Gary; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Tschida of Arizona; two sisters, Maryann (Gabe) Brisbois of Fosston, MN, and Noreen (Bill) Carlson of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cletus; a son, Doug; a grandson, Joseph Gieseke; a son-in-law, Scott Revier; a brother and his wife, Robert and Margaret Klinkhammer; a sister and her husband, Peggy and Norbert Freitag; and sister-in-law, Gayle Tschida.
