David Littlefield Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 28, 2025.
David Henry "Dave" Littlefield, 81, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Born on June 24, 1944, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Dave's life was marked by intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep commitment to both his family and his work. He pursued higher education with vigor, earning an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. Later, he expanded his expertise with an MBA from Wright State University.

Dave began his professional journey as an engineer in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction and attained the rank of captain. His work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base reflected both his technical acumen and dedication to service. After transitioning from military life to the private sector, Dave brought his talents to IBM in New York and later to Pillsbury in Minneapolis. His career path eventually led him away from corporate life and into entrepreneurship-a realm where he truly thrived.

As a business owner, Dave operated several ventures including Cycle Software in Bloomington, Mn. He approached each endeavor with innovation and integrity, always placing great value on the people who worked alongside him. His leadership was marked by a thoughtful attention to his employees and a passion for solving problems creatively.

Outside of work, Dave's interests were as expansive as they were adventurous. A licensed pilot who owned several planes over the years, he found joy and freedom in the skies. Equally at home on the water, he cherished time spent boating on Lake Minnetonka. Whether flying or boating, Dave embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. There wasn't a project around the house that he wouldn't take on. He was always busy with something, whether it was an addition, a modification, or a repair. He was never idle, whether he was inside or outside.

A voracious reader and constant thinker, Dave was rarely without a book or a new idea. His quick wit and generous nature left lasting impressions on those around him. He was a dedicated father whose love for his children was evident in all aspects of his life.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth; children Jennifer Gregerson (Tom), Alison Koechel (Ryan), Emily Littlefield, Matt Littlefield; and stepdaughter Laura Beer, as well as his grandchildren Ryan Koechel, Caitlin Aller ( Bryce), Morea Gregerson, Marshall Gregerson and great grandchild Cayden Aller. He was preceded in death by his parents Betty and Henry.

Dave's legacy lives on through the lives he touched-with kindness, intellect, humor, and unwavering support. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A private ceremony will be held to honor David's passing. Desired donations can be directed to the Minnesota Veterans Home or the Alzheimer's Association.
