David Lee Longstreth, 76, of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22nd, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on September 3rd, 1948, Dave was the youngest of eight children. To all who knew him, he was truly one of a kind, always ready with a witty one-liner. He was a man who found joy being with others and lending a hand to anyone who needed him.
Dave was a devoted fan of Michigan sports, often heard "cheering (or complaining) about his beloved Lions and Tigers". He cherished his time in the outdoors, whether it was watching the wild life in his backyard, hunting in the woods with his children and grandchildren or cruising the neighborhood on his tractor or Ranger with his best fourlegged friend, Jake, by his side.
If you couldn't find him catching a game or trying to bag a buck, you were likely to find him reminiscing about the "good ole days" with his lifelong friends.
In 1966, He married his one true love, Linda (Calhoun) Longstreth. Although their love story ended too soon, during their 12 wonderful years of marriage, they created a beautiful family of five. Dave was also dedicated to his career, retiring from Dow Corning after 33 years of service.
Dave will forever be missed and remembered by his children and grandchildren, who were the pride of his life: his daughter, Lori, and her daughters, Brittany and Loryn Roberson , Alyssa (Mark) Trumble, and step-son Kix Bradfield; his son, Jeff, his wife, Leigh, and their sons, Ryan (Rhead), Taran (Cassaday), and Nathan (Caroline); and his son, Jason, his wife, Michele, and their children, Mikayla (Ian) Metcalf and Carson (Taylor).
One of Dave’s greatest joys was watching bucks grow over the years, but what brought him the most joy was watching his family legacy grow with the addition of 10 great-grandchildren.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Alma, his wife Linda, his sisters, Marie and Norma, brothers, Dick, Wayne, Bill, Lloyd and Don.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the friends who cared for and supported Dave through the years. They would also like to thank the amazing staff of North Woods Nursing Center - Farwell for the comfort they provided in his final days.
Losing someone who was loved by so many is never easy and hurts, but in memory of Dave’s one liners, “It’ll feel better, when it quits hurtin’”
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton.
