David "Dave" E. Lovell, age 75, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away February 9, 2023, with family by his side. He was born November 2, 1947, the oldest son of Carl and Eva (Barnes) Lovell in Bloomington, Illinois. After many years of dating, Dave and Rosemarie "Rea" VanPelt were joined in marriage June 21, 1986.
Dave's earliest career was in the United States Navy, serving six years. He then moved to his second career with GTE, which later became Verizon, retiring after thirty years. Upon retirement his third and final endeavor was to relocate to Missouri, where he and "love of his life, Rea" could relax and enjoy boating, fishing and all things "LAKE." It was of the utmost importance to him to provide a place for the children, grandchildren, and all of his extended friends and family to enjoy their little piece of heaven. These memories and moments that Dave created over his lifetime will be cherished by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his wife, Rea Lovell; son, Keith (Cindy) Lovell; daughters-in-law: Robin Vilbig and Patty Lovell; mother-in-law, Opal Schmidt; sisters: Carol Simpson and Kristie (Art) Feldman; sister-in-law, Janet Lovell; brother-in-law, Mike VanPelt; grandchildren: Parker (Kristen), Savannah, Cassidy (Tyler), Camden, Chase, Graham, and Max; as well as special nephew, Tim VanPelt; great-niece, Kaylee; other nieces and nephews; and great-grandchildren: Braxton and Stella.
He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Dan VanPelt; son, David "Scott" Lovell; brothers, Stephen and Robert; brother-in-law, Robert Simpson; and niece, Jennifer VanPelt.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the American Legion, 1740 5th St, Lincoln, Illinois 62656. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dave's name to
the American Legion, www.mylegion.org/PersonifyEbusiness/Donate#legion-org or Ronald McDonald House Charities, www.rmhcozarks.org. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
