David Luera, 72, of Ballinger, Texas, passed away on June 11, 2024, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.
David was born on July 27, 1951, to Margarito and Aurora Luera in Ballinger, Texas. He married Irma Mata on December 5, 1970, in Wisconsin. He served in the Vietnam War for two years in the United States Army.
David was a kind and compassionate man, loved by all who knew him. Despite facing physical challenges, David took pride in his work as a handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and family. His passion for fishing brought him moments of peace and joy, and he never missed cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a devout Christian worshipper, David found solace in his faith and was a pillar of strength for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a granddaughter.
David is survived by his loving wife, Irma Luera; Christopher and Abigail Luera; David Chance and Celeste Luera; Taylor-lynn and Eric Hernandez; David and Jenna Hooks; Noelle Hooks; Elena, Ellie, and Edison Hernandez; Kai Luera; Johnson, Oaklynn, Willow, and Emmy Hooks; Lori Luera; Tru Vasquez; Harmony Mendoza; Da'Viana Luera; Sara Luera; Mia Luera; Brenna Herridge; Micah-Angel Luera; Jeremiah and Belinda Luera; Esly and Chan Luera; Jordon Luera; Rosa Gonzales; Felix and Lucia Luera; Rellas and Rosemary Luera; and Juanita Luera.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Shannon medical staff, Hospice of San Angelo, our pastors and the congregation of Freedom Fellowship, Lange Funeral Home, and all of our loved ones who have reached out with words of encouragement.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the Lange Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service honoring David will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:00am in the Lange Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Latin American Cemetery in Ballinger, Texas
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the charity of your choice in David's memory. David's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and he will forever be remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering faith.
