David J. Macek, born on September 27, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away suddenly in his hometown on February 28, 2026. He is survived by a loving family that includes his daughter Kristina Moore, her husband Ronnie, and his daughter Julia Perdue with her husband Sean. David was grandfather or "Pop" to Bryannah Jacobs, Kevin Perdue, and Emmett and Avery Moore, who will forever hold dear the moments they spent with him. He is also survived by his sisters Carol Hagenbuch, Nancy Scheitlin, and Katherine Nicholson, his brother Paul Macek, and his stepmother Jennie Macek. His family, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews, will carry on his memory with love and fondness.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Macek and Edward Macek, as well as his brother Michael Macek, who will welcome him with open arms in the embrace of eternity.
David proudly served his country for over 42 years in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, retiring in 2020 as a Petty Officer Second Class. His dedication to service reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment. In addition to his military service, he worked throughout his adult life for the Baltimore Port Authority, where he retired as a Captain. He took immense pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his career.
His personality shone brightly through his love for humor; he was known to joke and laugh often, bringing joy to those around him.
A memorial gathering to celebrate David's life will be held on March 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, P.A. in Baltimore, followed by a prayer service from 3:45 PM to 4:30 PM. His inurnment will take place on March 20, 2026, at Crownsville Maryland Veterans Cemetery, beginning at 11:30 AM.
As we remember David, we know his laughter will echo in our hearts, his spirit will remain with us, and his love will be our guiding light. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
