David Maestas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perches Funeral Home-Lower Valley on Feb. 18, 2026.
David Daniel Maestas, age 68, was born on October 10, 1957, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Bennie and Victoria Maestas. He passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in El Paso, Texas.

David attended and graduated from Las Cruces High School, where he was recognized as a dedicated student-athlete.

Following high school, David entered the automotive industry, where he built a lifelong career. He worked in and owned auto auctions and car dealerships, remaining active in the business he loved up until the day of his passing. Over the years, he generously shared his knowledge and mentorship with many, and countless individuals have expressed gratitude for the guidance and encouragement he provided. A dedicated friend and his entrepreneurial spirit defined his life.

David was a man of adventure who believed deeply in creating meaningful experiences for his children-from countless lake trips to four-wheeling across desert trails. He shared a healthy love of competition during family game nights always resulting in laughter, especially when Skip-Bo was involved. He cherished his grandchildren and always had Oreos ready for every visit - a small gesture that meant so much. He loved preparing meals for his family like steaks and his famous banana pancakes with peanut butter syrup that we will spend our lifetime trying to replicate.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Maestas; his brother, Victor Maestas; and his son, Aaron Alcala.

David is survived by his mother, Victoria Maestas; his brothers, Jim Maestas, Bennie Rey Maestas, and Freddie Maestas; his sisters, Mercedes Maestas and Vicki Buckingham; his children and their spouses, Joshua Samples (Lupe), Aaron Maestas (Kristi), Nicholas Maestas, Krystal Annankra (John), Adrian Alcala (Victoria), David Maestas Jr.(Valeria), and Daniel Maestas; his grandchildren, Marce, Laura, Olivia, Nolan, and Ahava; and numerous nieces and nephews; his friends and mentees including longtime companion, Marina.

A private graveside memorial will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Dona Ana Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life fiesta that will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 5804 Rannerdale Ct., Santa Teresa, NM, 88008 starting at 5 PM.
