David (Dave) Malseed passed away on November 1, 2025, in Anacortes Washington. Dave was born in Detroit Michigan May 26, 1940.

He excelled in Physics and worked for NASA helping to design and build the Saturn 5 moon rocket. He married Deanna Kay Gossett in June 1967. In 1970 their real adventure began when they travelled on a 30-foot sailboat from California to Panama, where they both worked. Next, they sailed westward to New Zealand and back to Hawaii in 1980.

They fell in love with Anacortes and began to build their first home, a commercial building and opened a business, Anacortes Refrigeration. In 1993 they sold the business and started motor home touring, crisscrossing the country five times in five years. The motor home was sold to buy Kay's dream boat "Wave Dancer" in North Carolina. They sailed the east coast of the USA and eastern and western seas of the Caribbean, transiting the canal and then westward to Australia.

They returned to Anacortes in 2004. In 2007, Dave lost Kay. The following year he met Eileen at a widower's support group. Dave and Eileen hit it off right away and enjoyed many wonderful times dancing with friends at the Eagles and the Elks where they were loved by all. Dave lovingly cared for Eileen as her health declined. She passed away Sept 15, 2024, and the loss was difficult for Dave.

Dave was a friendly, adventurous, intelligent, and a widely loved and respected member of the community. He was curious and a life learner.

Dave is predeceased by his brother, parents, first wife Deanna Kay Malseed, his soulmate Eileen Berkland and many friends. He will be sorely missed by all.

A special thank you to Allen and Phil and all his friends who lovingly cared for Dave and helped him be able to stay in his beloved building till his last days. Memorial donations can be made to the Anacortes Elks in Dave's memory.
