David Mariani Obituary

Mariani, David
ALBANY - Mariani, David, 63, passed away suddenly, on June 27, 2024.
David was a devoted husband, loving father, and brother. He worked at Albany Public Market, where he met the love of his life, Angela. He then worked for the Albany County Sheriff's Department at Albany County Jail, Maintenance. David enjoyed being with family and friends. He reached so many people, especially residents of Beltrone Senior Living Center. He was known as the "Mayor" of Beltrone. He was loving, energetic, positive spirited, kind, and helpful. He was a friend to many. David had a knack for fixing the broken with MacGyver-like skills. He passed those skills onto his son, whom he loved more than life itself.
He was predeceased by his father, Francis (Frank) Mariani; his mother, Mary Slovak Mariani; and his father-in-law, Robert Jefferson.
David is survived by his wife, Angela Mariani of 44 years; his son, Robert (Bobby) Mariani, who he adored; "the very best puppy in the world," Oscar Meyer; and devoted son-in-law to Theresa Jefferson. Brother to Jim (Don LeClair), MaryAnn (Mike) Macri, Frank (Elena) Mariani, John (Mary) Mariani; along with several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4-6 p.m., followed by 6 p.m. service held at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, N.Y. 12205.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association, 2 Pinewest Plaza, Albany, N.Y. 12205.

The halls at Beltrone won't be the same without seeing David on his red scooter heading to the Cafe, or Lakeview or off to play cards with other residents. It is unusual for a whole building of seniors to know "one" resident, but David was that special "one" everyone knew and enjoyed. We think the whole building mourns him the way our whole country was in shock when JFK died or when the towers came down on 9/11. David was thoughtful, creative, sharing. Most of all, he loved and treasured his family. Thank you for sharing him with all of us at Beltrone.
