David Masini Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan-King Mortuary & Crematory - Anderson on Dec. 20, 2025.
David Leonard Masini, age 70, a proud husband, father, grandfather, and veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2025.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, David was the son of Eugene (Geno) and Joyce Masini. He spent his childhood in both Chicago, Illinois, and Napoleon, Ohio, and was a graduate of Napoleon High School. At the age of 18, David followed in the footsteps of his father and brothers by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He faithfully served his country for two terms from 1973 to 1979, a commitment he held in the highest regard throughout his life. David was a true patriot who deeply loved his country and fellow veterans.

Following his military service, David attended the University of Toledo, where he earned a degree in the field of computer science. He went on to work in software development, a career that reflected his intelligence and problem-solving nature.

David is survived by his wife, Lynne Masini, whom he married on April 29, 2003; his beloved daughter, Megan (Shawn) Sherman; and his grandchildren, Chase and Paige Sherman. He is also survived by sons, Brian (Santana) Leslie and Tim (Stepanie Lyn) Leslie, granddaughter, Sophie Leslie and grandson, Austin Leslie. Additional survivors include his brother, Douglas (Shirley) Masini; sisters Dawn Harbin, Donna Griffith, and Diane Masini; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Joyce Masini, and his brother, Donald Masini.

David will be remembered for his love of music and playing the guitar, his passion for motorcycles, and his fondness for reminiscing about his younger days. He had a soft heart for animals, especially his dogs-whom he spoiled by sneaking them far too many treats-and for the local wildlife, including the deer, squirrels, and ducks he religiously fed. David enjoyed socializing with friends and family, often spending time in the garage where stories were shared, laughter was common, and everyone was welcome. He was known for his generosity, especially toward veterans' organizations, and took pride in supporting those who served.

A funeral service honoring the life of David L. Masini will be held at Sullivan-King Mortuary in Anderson, South Carolina, on January 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with family and friends welcome to gather beginning at 12:00pm. A celebration of life immediately following the service at Dazzlers 2.0, 1903 Highway 29 North, Anderson, SC 29621.

Those wishing to honor David's memory may make memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, either online or by mailing a donation form to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Flowers and memorials will also be accepted at Sullivan-King Mortuary.
