David Wayne Massey Jr., age 54, of Austin, TX, passed away on October 22nd, 2025. Known to most as “Wayne.” He was born and raised in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to his father, David Wayne Massey Sr., and his late mother, Dawn Booth Calvert, also known to her grandchildren as “Nana.”
Wayne has two brothers, the late Wade Harwell Massey and his younger brother, Samuel T. Massey. Wayne attended elementary school at the Ethridge School in Ethridge, TN, as well as E.O. Coffman Middle School and Lawrence County High School in Lawrenceburg, TN. He then sought undergraduate education at Memphis State University.
Wayne was known for his excellent accomplishments in car sales, becoming one of the top sales professionals in the country. He worked for Car Dealerships in Memphis, Dallas, the Los Angeles area, Denver, and Houston. Including his namesake, “Massey Cadillac” in Garland, Texas (next to Dallas). He continued doing quality work for the Massey Cadillac brand through the 90s and 2000s.
During this time, he met his wife, Joann Jimenez, in Dallas during the mid-90s. They married in 1998; their wedding was large and extravagant. It took place at the iconic star-studded "Southfork Ranch," and they had one child, David Wayne Massey III, known to many as "Trey."
Wayne is survived by his wife, Joann Massey; his son, David W. Massey III; his stepson, Brandon L. Eitrheim; his father, David W. Massey Sr.; and his younger brother, Samuel T. Massey. His stepmother, Barbara Massey. His mother-in-law, Nina Acosta, and his many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded by his late mother, Dawn Calvert; his stepfather, Larry Calvert; his late younger brother, Wade H. Massey; his father-in-law, Rafael J. Jimenez; his sister-in-law, Rosemary Jimenez; and his stepsister, Miranda Kate Garland.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM on Thursday November 6, 2025, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Hwy 95 North, Elgin, TX 78621.
Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday November 7, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10104 Hill Ln, Manor, TX 78653. Interment will follow immediately at Hutto Cemetery, 100 Co Rd 135, Hutto, TX 78634.
