Richard Lee Massey Jr. born March 25, 1949, in Uniontown Pennsylvania to Richard Lee Massey Senior and Charlotte Naomi Massey of Cleveland Ohio. Richard was the first born of four children to this union; Homer Allen Massey (deceased), William Henry Massey (deceased), and Marian Denise Massey (Stidham). The family moved from Pennsylvania shortly after the birth of Marian and settled in Cleveland, Ohio.
Richard graduated from John Hay High School. Shortly after high school Richard joined the army along with his three other siblings Homer, James, and Robert.
Richard married Clara Paula Jones, who had a son name Keith and from the union of Richard and Clara was born Richard Lee Massey lll. Sometime after serving in the Army, the couple returned to Cleveland. Richard then moved to Los Angeles, California and obtained a job with the IRS where he worked for 30 years. While in California, Richard met Dannelle Knox who had a daughter Dannelle. They married in 1993. Richard’s greatest aspiration was to become a comedian for which he performed one night at a club called The Comedy Store and became a one-night sensation.
Richard made several other moves in California before returning to Cleveland, Ohio to assist in caring for his mother until moving to Arkansas in 2020. Richard was loved by many people. Once he met you, he would put you in his address book, and made sure he gave you a call on your birthday. He will be known for being a wonderful friend and an EXCELLENT father. Richard is survived by his sister, Marian Stidham; his sons, Richard Massey III and Keith Massey; daughter, Dannelle Massey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard will be sorely missed by all. May he rest in peace.
