Erwin, NC: Mr. David Eugene Mathews, age 61, of Erwin passed away on December 22, 2025 at his residence. The family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.
Mr. Mathews was born on July 28, 1964 in Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Keyser, brother, Brian Hakes, sister, Candy Hakes, and daughter-in-law, Kayla Morales. He was a mechanic by trade who loved to work on cars but was handy with everything. He was a generous person who would help anyone in need and a great provider for his family. Mr. Mathews not only loved cars but loved to race them too. He loved his family, especially his grandkids, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving includes his wife of 25 years, Crystal Mathews; children, Mario Morales and girlfriend, Taylor, David Mathews, April Coats, Angelina Marie, Angel Keyser, Sara Boston, and David Mathews Jr.; grandchildren, Makenna Morales, Iridian Fonseca, Evelyn Morales, Brooklyn Morales, and many more; brothers, Charles Mathews, Dennis Mathews, and Tony Hakes; and several nieces and nephews.
