David "Dale" Matson, 91, of Clarion, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 while at UPMC Seneca following an illness.

Born in Fisher on August 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Clyde Matson.

He was a graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School and continued his education by attending college for a year and a Machinist Program.

Mr. Matson proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

In Fisher he married Elizabeth Shoup, she survives.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by Clarion O-I for over 40 years. He held many positions but eventually worked his way to machinist.

His interests included fishing, camping and sitting by the camp fire, going to Pymatuning and drive-in movies with his familywhen his children were young and long rides on backroads.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Mike Matson, Bryon (Tera) Matson, Eric Matson, Steve Matson and Garret Matson; his daughter, Denise (Bob) Hutchinson; his grandchildren, Chase, Corey, Nash, Reise, Mikey, Alyxie and Jamie; and his great grandchildren, Lennon, Easton, Alivia and Ezra.

Those preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his brothers, Bud, Glenn and Bob Matson; and his sisters, Dorothy Hannold and Ruby Brocious.

His family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2025 from 6-8PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. An additional hour of visiting will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 10-11 AM prior to the funeral service also at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11AM with Pastor David Shay, officiating. Military Honor Services will be conducted by the Brookville Honor Guard at this service.

Interment will be at Cedarview Cemetery, Strattanville, ClarionCounty.
